About Canada Canada is on the continent of North America. The name "Canada" comes from the Huron and Iroquois word "Kanata" meaning "village". It is second largest country in the world after Russia. Canada stretches from Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean with Arctic Ocean in the North and United States in the south.
The beauty of Canada lies in its mountains, glaciers, lakes and forests, which are almost unparalleled worldwide. Forests cover almost half of the Canada. Nearly one-fourth of all the fresh water in the world is in Canada.
Canada is often described as ‘Multicultural Nation’ which means that Canadians are not of any one cultural background, race or heritage. Instead, Canadians today reflect a vast diversity of cultural heritages and racial groups. This multicultural diversity is a result of centuries of immigration. People of Canada are very friendly in nature. Cities of Canada are clean and safe which makes it one of the most livable countries in the world. Canada resembles US in its economic system and living standards.

Climate: Canada's climate is not as cold all year around as some may believe. In winter, temperatures fall below freezing point throughout most of Canada. But the south-western coast has a relatively mild climate. Along the Arctic Circle, mean temperatures are below freezing for seven months a year. During the summer months the southern provinces often experience high levels of humidity and temperatures that can surpass 30 degrees Celsius regularly. Western and south-eastern Canada experience high rainfall.
